Merchants can buy Square Register outright for $999 or paid for in 24 monthly installments of $49. The company does not state on its website whether merchants can stop making payments if they return the Square Register before their payment plan is concluded, so merchants should assume that any payment plan they agree to will constitute a purchase of the machine and will need to be paid in full. Transactions processed through Square Register are cheaper than normal Square transactions, coming in at 2.5% plus $0.10 as opposed to Square’s usual 2.75%. Square offers a number of optional hardware add-ons like a cash drawer ($109), a barcode scanner ($119), and a receipt printer ($229). The reduced processing fee may justify the cost of paying for an expensive piece of proprietary hardware, but merchants will need to make this judgment based on their individual needs.

I really love the dock. Keeps it charged and ready all day long. Also do not need to press button on comtactless chip reader to pair with phone it eliminates that problem. Also you don’t need square stand to operate this you can do it from your cell phone. Works perfect!

This printer is fast and has useable options. I use it with my iPad and Square credit card reader. You can also use it for POS or other systems or configurations. Using it with Square credit card processor I save paper because I only print the customer copy because all the other transaction data is accessed online. And when I tap print on my iPad it starts and completes the printing in just one second. I saw this printer being used at my local drug store with a different setup and it too works well. Give it a try and I think you’ll be glad you did.
I own a restaurant and a beauty salon, Square (one flat fee of 2.75%) had solved a lot of problems for me. No more paper rolls or running out of paper during a transaction, no more chasing down a pen for customers to sign the receipt, no more worrying about missing a tip or doing batching/settlement at the end of day, and no more keeping rolls of receipts for potential customer dispute/charge back (by the way the ink on receipt fades after a week anyway, you won’t be able to read anything after that so keeping receipts is completely useless). Prior to Square I used Central Payment, they charged an all in fee around 2.78% (including statement fee, PCI compliant fee, anti fraud fee, and a host of other funny fees…). Then I switched to Elavon, which is promoted by Costco, the rate was pretty much the same around 2.75% for everything. So frustrated, I decided to do my own research instead of trying something new every time a credit card rep stops by my place to pitch “a lower/better rate”.
The Star SP700 series of printers is the most commonly used with iOS and Android POS Software for Restaurants. This impact printer is used to print out kitchen tickets. Please check with your software/app provider to verify compatibility.

For anyone who has an iPad that isn’t compatible with the Square Stand, I just want to mention that you could use another tablet stand like the Heckler Windfall Stand or the Heckler @Rest Stand! Hope that’s useful!
Clear paper jams. Be careful during this operation. Refer to the manual for special instructions and always power down your printer and unplug it first. Use tweezers and be gentle-don’t use force. Clear out even the tiniest bits of paper you find.
If the Ping Test fails then double check the local IP address of the computer as well as the IP address of the printer. Certain firewalls can block the connection. The printer could also have the ping reply disabled (see Network card settings).

However, Square does have two major shortcomings: its restricted live customer support and its fund holding policies. These two aspects of Square’s service are not fully addressed in its promotional materials, and thousands of merchants have reported that they were blindsided by problems related to these specific issues. This can be described as either a marketing issue or a service issue. Since customer support and fund holds are generally unrelated to the Square Register product itself, they will not count against the company in this review.
Here are more sites to learn about this.

Also known as “Square Point of Sale,” Square Register (squareup.com/register) is a point-of-sale (POS) hardware device offered by Square. The term “Square Register” originally referred to the company’s iPad-based point of sale software application, but in October 2017, Square unveiled a proprietary device called Square Register designed to accept swiped and EMV payments made in-store via debit and credit cards. Intended as a cloud-based replacement for traditional cash registers, Square Register should be thought of as an all-in-one credit card terminal for retail businesses. Square Register can be attached to peripheral equipment to accommodate a number of industry-specific checkout configurations.

If you are into the Square line of products as a business owner, you have to get this NOW if you don’t have it. I am a banker by trade, and I cannot stress the importance of being able to accept the EMV/chip cards as a business owner. If you think it’s just some gimmick by banks or acquirers and processors to charge you more per swipe, you’re only partly correct. If you haven’t migrated to the ability to accept EMV/chip cards, you are at risk for being liable for fraudulent purchases made with an EMV/chip card if you use EMV/chip ICC fallback methods of swiping the card instead of using the chip. Save yourself the risk of eating chargebacks due to fraudulent charges and put this in your store, yesterday! If you go the Square route of processing cards, be sure to get the dock to accompany this device. My only gripe is that Square didn’t package this together the dock in the first place. Other than that, this device works flawlessly to accept EMV/chip cards and contactless payments.
With your choice of one or two under till media slots, the Series 4000 makes safely storing receipts, large bills, or other important media a snap. The spacious heavy duty till features coated bill stays and stronger than average dividers, so you can be sure your money stays put.
After using this for a day and processing a 20 of payment via phone and bluetooth connection, I think this thing can improve. This thing does work, but it is much slower than using the mag strip reader. Cell signal is very strong via LTE.. therefore, it is not this portion.
High-speed throughput – Kitchen backups can quickly snowball into extra waiting, so trim seconds off meal prep times whenever possible. A restaurant kitchen printer should have a high-speed throughput of 13 receipts per minute, which increases staff productivity and efficiency in the kitchen. The printer’s clear, easy-to-read tickets means your staff doesn’t have to play guessing games with the orders –they can print tickets quickly, assemble the dishes faster and ensure every selection comes out correctly the first time. Faster service means more throughput, higher profit margins and bigger tips for your wait staff.
When a printer is unable to print it’s a good possibility that either the printer is experiencing a hardware or software related issue. Before testing the software it is always recommended that the printer be tested for hardware issues first.
Replace the black (T0321), cyan (T0422), magenta (T0423), or yellow (T0424) ink cartridge with a new one. If the ink end error occurs after the print head moves to its home position, the ink cartridge may not be installed properly. Reinstall the ink cartridge until it clicks into place.
Was using this with a no name brand tablet for my POS and someone convinced me to get and IPAD.  Does not work with the apple IPAD and can’t.   Works fine otherwise.  Opened the drawer on demand etc. …
Complete your countertop POS system with this Square register kit. Print paper receipts, daily sales reports and summaries right from your iPad. KaBOOOM. I would not recommend Square to anyone at this point. As of right now Square made my account jacked up my account in fees that I did not tell them to Bill to this account. They do not have managers or supervision in place to assist you over the phone when admin is needed. The Phone reps are unable to assist this type of transactions and no one called me back or resolved my issue. This issue is 100% the fault of SQUARE DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM THATS MY EXPERIENCE!
