It is what I wanted. I used the chip reader for a while and thought the dock would add convenience for a charger and a one hand operation. One disappointing feature is that the button to press to connect to Bluetooth device is downward when inserted in the doc and I had to pull the piece that locks the reader into the dock then pull the reader to get to the button. It is something that could have been thought out when they design the read or the dock.
I bought the square stand, for my old iPad, but have since had to buy a new iPad.  Although, it does not fit the stand it still works in the stand.  I have wedged a piece of paper, (until I remember to go buy putty) under the bottom left corner, which keeps it in place.  Not perfect, but it works.  I tried to include a photo but it doesn’t seem to be an option.  If anyone would like me to send a photo of what that looks like just email me.

Bought this strictly to print receipts with the Amazon Local Register iPad App and card reader, as it is the only receipt printer supported at this time by that platform. (Bought it used via an Amazon re-seller; works perfectly. It was easy to set up on the network using the downloadable Windows software. Once set up, my iPad and the Amazon Local Register app found the printer and linked to it easily. I haven’t tried using any of the other options (like printing our logo or printing coupons), but for what I bought it for it works perfectly. It prints extremely fast and clearly. The cutter works well, too. It is nice that it can be mounted to a vertical surface if desired.
If you have a specific problem relating to print quality, a printout problem not related to print quality, or a paper feeding problem, or if the printer does not print at all, refer to the appropriate section in this chapter.
Internal power supply – Whether you’re operating a spacious kitchen, small kiosk or food truck, choose a restaurant kitchen printer with an internal power supply. An internal power supply eliminates the need for snaking power cords around the kitchen so printers can be placed at different work stations. If space is at a premium in your eatery, an internal power supply can free up several inches of valuable real estate.
On the front-right-bottom of the printer, red and yellow lights should slowly blink and when a single green light turns on under the Power label and icon, indicating that the Kitchen Printer is communicating with the network

If you use the parallel interface, unlock the wire clips on both sides of the interface connector, remove the ground connector if necessary, and then disconnect the cable from the printer’s interface connector.
The link to the printer posted previously is correct, assuming you are running your Square system on a LAN (local area network) and will be using an Ethernet printer. If you are using a Square Stand, then you will need a USB cable and a really long USB cable. I’ve purchased the printer for less with knowledgeable help here.

You must change the IP address  of the printer or the computer to be on the same subnet so the computer can communicate with the printer. This can be done by changing the IP of the printer or done by changing the IP of the computer. Once connected you can change the IP of the printer to its final value. More on configuring the TCP port.

This thing works awesome, and there are tons of other reviews, so read those for more info. Only problem we have had is the stand has a hard time connecting to chip reader occasionally. When you open the program for the first time, there is like a 10% chance it won’t connect to chip reader. You have to quit app and restart. Gets old.
@Kitekitty – You can definitely get by with out a Square Stand. The brains of the operation is the Square Register app, which will work like a charm on your iPad! You can just plug our reader into the headphone jack, or pair the Square Contactless and Chip Card Reader wirelessly. Hope this helps!

The extra seconds spent trying to decipher someone’s chicken scratch—or worse, having to ask them—can add up to extra minutes that people wait for food or drinks, which means additional time at the table and ultimately, longer wait times for people to be seated. More waiting means less table turns, which will cost you money. However, a restaurant kitchen printer can help recoup wasted minutes by cutting down food prep time and resources spent correcting mistakes.
Does the job just fine, although they really should just ship it with a USB wall outlet. Multiple tries of trying to power this AP from the printer were never successful. I’ve had no difficulty with it using the following startup method (assuming you’ve configure the AP to connect to your wifi network): plug the device into a standalone source of power (I just used a USB phone charger, since it’s powered via micro USB); wait a minute or so, then power on the printer.
Epson has reinvented the kitchen printer with its innovative and efficient system that brings its customers easy, flexible and scalable KDS controller solutions available to fit any quick service businesses.
Combined with its powerful futurePRNT Windows software, users can enhance their printed receipts to add graphics (logos and coupons), print multiple copies, or use the text processing function to replace printed information or trigger a coupon, and much, much more. So when i ordered, it was advertised with the Square thingy + card swipe adapter. It did come with both, in box that looks more like the apple company made it. The products itself looks from apple. Quality seems good, sturdy, I just like the feel I don’t have to worry of grabbing it too hard and break it.
This printer is fast. Thermal printers print very fast, and the internals are actually much simpler than the ones at my work. You simply open it up, drop the paper inside (yes, it’s a drop in, which makes it much easier to replace the roll once it has run out) and then feed the paper over the top.
Features of the CD3 include a black or white stainless steel front drawer cover with dual media slots and a three function lock system. The smooth black or white coated finish provides a unified appearance and complements the connected POS peripherals. The dual media slots provide extra storage for checks and large bills. For added security, the key lock at front center allows for an easy manual release via key or electronic release. Having a standard printer communication interface and bottom exit cable, hidden from the customer’s view the CD3 will serve any point of sale set up. These tradition cash drawers can accommodate both Canadian and US currency types of 3 Bill-5 Coin, or 4 Bill-5 Coin set ups.

High-speed throughput – Kitchen backups can quickly snowball into extra waiting, so trim seconds off meal prep times whenever possible. A restaurant kitchen printer should have a high-speed throughput of 13 receipts per minute, which increases staff productivity and efficiency in the kitchen. The printer’s clear, easy-to-read tickets means your staff doesn’t have to play guessing games with the orders –they can print tickets quickly, assemble the dishes faster and ensure every selection comes out correctly the first time. Faster service means more throughput, higher profit margins and bigger tips for your wait staff.

An update 11/21/15 Had it working fine with Amazon local register until Amazon shut it down, so bought the PayPal chip and card reader- the updated paypal iOs app will not print to this printer. (iOs 9.1/ iPad 3). The workaround I found was to turn this printer in to an airprint printer- it’s a bit of a hack, instructions are out there, problem being you must have a host computer on the network. To be clear- this is a PayPal issue- not a fault of the printer.
This has been a great solution for our clients with chip cards. Make sure that you don’t throw away the small white piece that is attached to the top of the reader. I threw it away accidentally and it made it confusing on where to dip the card.
