I already had the square reader and just was tired of it being in other spots or being charged. The dock was a great addition to the square stand and the printer. Very easy to use. Just attach to the square stand and put the reader in. The dock has weight to it so i dont have to worry about it falling especially in the spot i put it. Definitely reccomend

I own a restaurant and a beauty salon, Square (one flat fee of 2.75%) had solved a lot of problems for me. No more paper rolls or running out of paper during a transaction, no more chasing down a pen for customers to sign the receipt, no more worrying about missing a tip or doing batching/settlement at the end of day, and no more keeping rolls of receipts for potential customer dispute/charge back (by the way the ink on receipt fades after a week anyway, you won’t be able to read anything after that so keeping receipts is completely useless). Prior to Square I used Central Payment, they charged an all in fee around 2.78% (including statement fee, PCI compliant fee, anti fraud fee, and a host of other funny fees…). Then I switched to Elavon, which is promoted by Costco, the rate was pretty much the same around 2.75% for everything. So frustrated, I decided to do my own research instead of trying something new every time a credit card rep stops by my place to pitch “a lower/better rate”.
If I am at a venue where I have no power access, I still use the dock/charging station because it positions the reader for easy use. I do not put the locking piece on the top of the dock, because I do have to take the reader out & wake it up if it goes too long between uses. The on/off button on the reader is on the bottom; it is covered and unreachable when it is in the dock. That is a bit inconvenient, but if it prolong the battery life I am ok with it. Leaving the locking end off makes the reader easy to remove when necessary.
A perfect match for Square Credit Card Processing. The printer arrived as described. Easy setup and user friendly. Printer has a metal case is very heavy duty. One can add a logo to the customer receipts. Arrived as described and within the stated delivery time.
Update: After several months this printer is still working strong and still haven’t had a problem with it. I noticed a couple of people complain about receiving the wrong printer- well the reason they received the wrong printer is because they ordered the wrong printer. The title plainly states the model is TSP143U, USB. TSP143U is the USB model, hence the U. If you need the ethernet model you’ll need one of the TSP143L series models.
This product resolved the disappointment I had in using the square reader. The first time I charged my square chip reader, it lasted for about 5 or 6 customer transactions. Every time I re-charged the chip reader sometimes I got one transaction, sometimes two before it showed that it was out of battery again. I was going to give-up using the square chip reader until I purchased the charging dock for the chip reader. Now I just leave it in the dock and have not had one transaction rejected as a result of low battery.
To use it, open the app (Abbreviated as “Register” in the apps menu), You enter the amount and you can have the chip reader or the swipe card thingy be used for the transaction. The app will automatically detect when it happens. Then customer signs on the smartphone. enters email for receipt (or skips). And done, in 3 days or less you got your deposit ready for withdrawal. Customers already familiar with it, make transactions faster than cash, and I’ve notice sales have gone up, despite the 2.75% current charge (as of 11/01/16).
As a bluetooth only device, it is a bit glitchy. If you are wanting to use it with a phone/tablet only as a standalone device, look elsewhere. The miura m010 reader works great for this, though is unfortunately not available on amazon.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The Square reader is super simple and easy to use. It is an especially good tool for small business owners who want to accept additional forms of payments(such as credit or debit cards) Additionally, the app on the google play store was easy to find and very straightforward. One downside, although somewhat expected are the fees associated with it. For example, 2.75 percent for credit card transactions. Other than that, I recommend this product for it’s simplicity and overall use. 4/5 stars.

The Square Contactless + Chip Card Reader empowers businesses to accept two of the newest mobile credit card reader technologies: EMV and NFC. EMV is a new security standard designed to make transactions less risky for consumers. If you’ve recently received a new credit or debit card, it probably has an embedded, visible EMV chip. Instead of swiping EMV cards to make a payment, customers insert their card chip-first into the reader’s slot. The reader then quickly recognizes the card and processes the payment. NFC technology, by comparison, lets customers simply wave their phones over the reader to make a payment.
Star Micronics CD3-1616 Tradition Cash Drawer, Printer Driven, 2 Media Slots, 5 Bill / 8 Coin Money Tray Insert (37965600), 16.1″ W x 16.4″ L x 4.4″ H, White Color, CD1 Epson/Star Cable Included (37964350), CD3-1616WT58-S2 – 37965590
The Contactless + Chip Card Reader is, however, the easiest, most affordable way to equip your business with NFC, the wireless communication technology that powers mobile payment services such as Apple Pay and Android Pay. During checkout, users with NFC-compatible phones can simply tap their phone on the reader and make a secure payment. NFC will only take off if it’s convenient and available in more stores. Square’s reader is the most convenient NFC solution for buyers and sellers alike.

That sounds strange—the Contactless and Chip Reader won’t be able to pair with your mobile device without a strong Wifi or data connection. In addition, you should have received an error message within the app if the payment wasn’t successful. 😕
The power cord cleverly mounts flush under the base and faces either right or left, depending upon your choice. It stays in place as the base rotates. The charger keeps the iPad trickle charged to 100 percent and also acts as the main power source when plugged in, saving your battery.

For lower to moderate cash drawer use, the CD3-1313 is an ideal choice. High volume cash handlers would benefit from the full size CD3-1616 drawer for easy organization of currency. The Square Contactless and chip reader is a great product for those who run businesses and need something quick and easy to charge their clients with. The experience is super smooth and easy, works 100% of the time and takes up just about a few inches of space. I like the fact that it`s easy to use and visually appealing rather than those old credit card processing machines. I have enjoyed using this product and I will continue to do so until something better happens to be invented. The only gripe I have about this product is the fact they they charge you a percentage of your overall total sale price as a fee. I should also mention that I received a free sample of the Square product in exchange for my honest review.
The Kitchen Buzzer connects directly the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. The buzzer sounds when a print job is sent to the TSP100. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent.
Square’s hardware is only approved for use in the country for which it is intended. For example, hardware sold or intended for sale in the United States is not approved for use in Australia, Canada, Japan, or the United Kingdom
After playing around with this some more. It is pretty quick when the phone and reader is kept closed together when the transaction is processing.. this set up cost around 4 dollars. Velcro and cheap phone case. Works perfect.
I have two cafes and these readers are constantly losing functionality constantly. Sometimes they stop connecting to the ipad. Sometimes they stop reading inserted chips. 100% of them break. The ONLY reason we use Square is because they are both the merchant processor and the POS manufacturer. Their hardware is junk and support is non existent. The second I find out about a different processor/POS company I will try them out. I cannot wait for competition in this niche.
Welcome to Amazon.com. If you prefer a simplified shopping experience, try the mobile web version of Amazon at www.amazon.com/access. The mobile web version is similar to the mobile app. Stay on Amazon.com for access to all the features of the main Amazon website.
If you haven’t already, I would suggest getting in touch with our Customer Success team directly. They’ll be able to take a deeper dive into your account and provide more insight on these attempted payments. In addition, they’ll be able to escalate any specific payment issues for further review.
The CD3-1313 is ideal for environments handling a standard amount of cash transactions per day. Optimal in any POS environment, the CD3 Tradition cash drawers will enhance not only cash operations, but also appearance of your POS terminal.
Get your iOS or Android device, download Square Point of Sale, and connect via Bluetooth LE—you’re ready to take payments from anywhere. Or set up your counter and plug your reader into the optional Square Stand and Dock for Square Reader.
If you use ‘Square’ as your credit card acceptance service, the Square Stand takes you to the next level of professionalism. It is especially useful for your store location, or if you set up a kiosk for the day at a local event. The device itself is quite heavy in order to keep the unit stable while you use it and when the client signs it.
The TSP100III is the faster, easier, and better solution for POS receipt printing. Already a leading player in the mPOS market, Star Micronics’ TSP100III is offered with WLAN, LAN, or Bluetooth connectivity for an easy-to-use and ready-to-go installation. Learn more about the TSP100III series here.
Have used these at a lot of Arts & Crafts fairs. They work absolutely great! Even on shows with a few hundred other merchants nearby I have never had to wait more than a few seconds to get a good connection, which is a far cry from the several minute waits I often had to wait with terminals that relied on local wifi networks. In every case Square One transferred my money to my account by the next working day morning, gotta like that! Battery life is excellent, good for at least 40 cards between charges, but do be certain to keep a USB charger in your kit!
Not only Square tackled all of those problems listed above, it has the capabilities to do full and other comprehensive POS tasks such as time card m/c for employees, menu design items with picture eliminating countless hours of monkeying around trying to code or program old clunky POS systems such as Sharp POS…just to name a few!
The Square stand is very durable and to my surprise heavier than it looks. The swivel mount is built into the bottom of the device and conceals the power cord. This cord is connected to a 3 port USB module that will allow users to connect up to three separate POS devices in addition to connections with wireless LAN POS devices like receipt and label printers. Although not official, the Square stand can hold an iPad Air 2 pretty perfectly. I would suggest placing a small foam dot or so, just so that it is seamless to the stands edges. All in all, this is a great start-up POS system and highly customizable to any operation. I would recommend this product to any small business.
EMV is actually the only way to pay with credit cards using the Contactless + Chip Card Reader, since there is no mechanism for swiping typical magstripe cards. I find this a little odd. It’s good to be prepared for the future, but there are lots of people currently without chip cards. To accept payments from them, businesses must use the separate, basic magstripe reader mobile dongle, thankfully bundled with the Contactless + Chip Card Reader along with the Micro USB charging cable. But switching between two devices isn’t ideal. The Square Chip Card Reader accepts both card types in a single product, as does the PayPal Chip Card Reader, which also includes NFC. However, PayPal’s device costs three times as much as Square’s and is somewhat bulky, with its mostly unnecessary screen and number pad. The Contactless + Chip Card Reader is an elegant, Apple-esque piece of hardware, an unassuming thin, white box that fits in the palm of your hand. While the double readers aren’t a perfect solution, I would still choose them over the PayPal device.
I got the AGP model they sell here on Amazon for about $10 more a few years back for my first Square Stand setup. I saw this was the drawer that Square now recommends on their site, and the price on Amazon was even better than the first drawer I bought, so I figured what the heck, I’ll just get this one. The drawer seems to be built well, HOWEVER the inside of the drawer, which they don’t show you a picture of in the description is ridiculous. It has 8 slots for coins, so that means each slot is half the size of a normal coin slot. It makes absolutely no sense who in their right mind would design that. I’ve been in business for 20 years and have had many cash registers and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything so crazy. Also the clamps that hold the bills in place are made of metal, which you’d think would be better since they’d be more sturdy than all the plastic clamps you’ve used in registers for the last 30 years, but the design of them is strange and makes it a pain to pull them up. I wouldn’t recommend this drawer if you’ve ever used another cash register before in your lifetime because it will just annoy you.
The WiFi Power Pack is designed to make any Star LAN interface printer “wireless”. Powered by the printer’s cash drawer kick port, the WiFi Power Pack avoids additional power outlet, eliminating the possibility of tangled cables. The WiFi Power Pack includes a DK-USB power module and a TP Link wireless router
Receipt printer worked wonderfully with my Square checkout terminal and drawer that I also ordered off Amazon. I love that it’s thermal so you don’t have to purchase ink. It was easy to load the paper and easy to unload. All the items you need for the printer are here on Amazon so I could have it delivered directly to my workplace.
MUCH better than the swipe, and far worth it. It made me annoyed to pay for something when they get the interest, however the old fashioned retail type machines are far more expensive. This is the fastest chip reader I’ve seen, much quicker than the ones I use at large stores. And no more constantly having to swipe because the reader won’t read the magnetic strip. Every minute counts between clients, so this makes using square quicker than I used to. I got mine open box for cheaper on amazon- $35. It’s simple to set up. The only negative is you can’t just turn it off…I think it stays on standby while my phone is near. I understand some places may be constantly using theirs, but I’m not, I ring up a client 1-5 hours apart, so don’t need it to use the battery up. Either way, I’m very pleased with this.
Unfortunately, I found this out after the 30 day return policy on my purchase has passed. Also unfortunately, this seller (despite being very polite) was firm in refusing to let me exchange my purchase for a cash drawer I could actually use.
I’ve installed dozens of these square POS systems. They work fine on their own, just be sure to get the proper size/version to match your ipad, the connectors differ. To expand the system you pair it with a printer, cash drawer, scanner, and chip reader.
Here are more sites to learn about this.
It is what I wanted. I used the chip reader for a while and thought the dock would add convenience for a charger and a one hand operation. One disappointing feature is that the button to press to connect to Bluetooth device is downward when inserted in the doc and I had to pull the piece that locks the reader into the dock then pull the reader to get to the button. It is something that could have been thought out when they design the read or the dock.
