I got the AGP model they sell here on Amazon for about $10 more a few years back for my first Square Stand setup. I saw this was the drawer that Square now recommends on their site, and the price on Amazon was even better than the first drawer I bought, so I figured what the heck, I’ll just get this one. The drawer seems to be built well, HOWEVER the inside of the drawer, which they don’t show you a picture of in the description is ridiculous. It has 8 slots for coins, so that means each slot is half the size of a normal coin slot. It makes absolutely no sense who in their right mind would design that. I’ve been in business for 20 years and have had many cash registers and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything so crazy. Also the clamps that hold the bills in place are made of metal, which you’d think would be better since they’d be more sturdy than all the plastic clamps you’ve used in registers for the last 30 years, but the design of them is strange and makes it a pain to pull them up. I wouldn’t recommend this drawer if you’ve ever used another cash register before in your lifetime because it will just annoy you.
If I am at a venue where I have no power access, I still use the dock/charging station because it positions the reader for easy use. I do not put the locking piece on the top of the dock, because I do have to take the reader out & wake it up if it goes too long between uses. The on/off button on the reader is on the bottom; it is covered and unreachable when it is in the dock. That is a bit inconvenient, but if it prolong the battery life I am ok with it. Leaving the locking end off makes the reader easy to remove when necessary.

I know there is a need to conserve battery.. but there should also be a mode where it is always connected and ready to use. It seems like to me at times, it needs to ‘think” for a while before any light flashes..

Not only Square tackled all of those problems listed above, it has the capabilities to do full and other comprehensive POS tasks such as time card m/c for employees, menu design items with picture eliminating countless hours of monkeying around trying to code or program old clunky POS systems such as Sharp POS…just to name a few!
If you use ‘Square’ as your credit card acceptance service, the Square Stand takes you to the next level of professionalism. The device itself is quite heavy in order to keep the unit stable while you use it and when the client signs it.
The entire unit faces you to enter the information and then rotates 180 degrees and locks in place to face your client to swipe their card and sign the screen with a finger. The device can swipe a card in either direction, as there are two sensor heads, one on each side of the card slot. The card slot is much easier to use and reads more reliably than the small square device made for phones.
This product resolved the disappointment I had in using the square reader. The first time I charged my square chip reader, it lasted for about 5 or 6 customer transactions. Every time I re-charged the chip reader sometimes I got one transaction, sometimes two before it showed that it was out of battery again. I was going to give-up using the square chip reader until I purchased the charging dock for the chip reader. Now I just leave it in the dock and have not had one transaction rejected as a result of low battery.

Doesn’t work with everything that has bluetooth! I had bought some cheap Android tablets that claimed to have Bluetooth 4.1, and I couldn’t get these to connect to them. For all of the “higher end” Android and Apple tablets I have, they connected just fine. Yes, it does go to sleep if it doesn’t communicate with the tablet after some time, but reconnecting on all of my different devices proved as simple as pushing the button (once I was back in square), and waiting about 10 seconds for it to reconnect – which it did without a hitch every single time. I bought 4 of these, and all 4 of them work on Android (higher end) and Apple without an issue.

Thanks Tom, but I have reached out to the Square Customer Service team.   The unit works appropriately with a strong WIFI connection only.    Using a Cellular data plan for iphone and this CLCCR when there is no WIFI available is a total crap shoot.  Throughout the day I checked the bluetooth connection between my Square CLCCR and my iphone and my iphone indicated that it was properly connected via bluetooth.  After each transaction (I slid a customer’s credit card into the device) the phone said “Transaction Complete”.  I never got a message that the reader was offline.  I proceeded to take payments as if it was working properly.  I had practiced at home in my own WIFI zone and all was well.   I really don’t think this CLCCR works reliably with cellular data plans (which MOST artists use at shows).  And there is most definately a glitch regarding a failure to indicate that the reader is not connected via bluetooth.   
This thing works awesome, and there are tons of other reviews, so read those for more info. Only problem we have had is the stand has a hard time connecting to chip reader occasionally. When you open the program for the first time, there is like a 10% chance it won’t connect to chip reader. You have to quit app and restart. Gets old.
Set up is pretty much straightforward. You download the app (Squre Register-POS), you’ll need your Business Account // Personal Account along with routing number. Zip Code, name, address, social security and what not. Pretty much what a bank would ask you. Once your account is linked, it will ask you if you want them to send you their product or if you already got it. I thought the product was going to be sent for free, but it was charging me another $50, so i wanted to cancel and it didn’t give me that option. I still have to check with customer service about that. In the meanwhile i just put “charge me later” or something along the lines.

I really love the dock. Keeps it charged and ready all day long. Also do not need to press button on comtactless chip reader to pair with phone it eliminates that problem. Also you don’t need square stand to operate this you can do it from your cell phone. Works perfect!
One more critical thing, Square can handle transactions without Internet for up to 72 hrs, after that simply connect it to any Wifi and it will sync & batch all deposits automatically. It is simply not the case with all other terminals if your Internet is sporadic or unstable or lack bandwidth. VRX & Elavon m/c will reject the transaction in the middle of transaction and ask you to reset and cycle thru their initial power up programming, a major headache when there’s a line of impatient customers in front of you trying to pay and get back to work!
So I like the stand and it would get a 5 star review, but I’m not exactly sure that I got a brand new item or not. The product came in the most amazing package, would remind you of Apple…but on the front of the stand frame around the ipad there are tiny scratches, it’s not smooth like you’d expect something brand new to be. Also the swipe part that actually runs the card through, the plastic is ill fitting. You can squeeze the back wall of this part and the plastic is bulging out at least 1mm or two and you can see it’s not sitting flush with the rest of the stand…The seams should be spot on like they are with the rest of the stand…but they’re not. Would love to exchange it and give another stand a try, maybe I just got a funky one?

If you are into the Square line of products as a business owner, you have to get this NOW if you don’t have it. I am a banker by trade, and I cannot stress the importance of being able to accept the EMV/chip cards as a business owner. If you think it’s just some gimmick by banks or acquirers and processors to charge you more per swipe, you’re only partly correct. If you haven’t migrated to the ability to accept EMV/chip cards, you are at risk for being liable for fraudulent purchases made with an EMV/chip card if you use EMV/chip ICC fallback methods of swiping the card instead of using the chip. Save yourself the risk of eating chargebacks due to fraudulent charges and put this in your store, yesterday! If you go the Square route of processing cards, be sure to get the dock to accompany this device. My only gripe is that Square didn’t package this together the dock in the first place. Other than that, this device works flawlessly to accept EMV/chip cards and contactless payments.
The power cord cleverly mounts flush under the base and faces either right or left, depending upon your choice. It stays in place as the base rotates. The charger keeps the iPad trickle charged to 100 percent and also acts as the main power source when plugged in, saving your battery.
The Square stand is very durable and to my surprise heavier than it looks. The swivel mount is built into the bottom of the device and conceals the power cord. This cord is connected to a 3 port USB module that will allow users to connect up to three separate POS devices in addition to connections with wireless LAN POS devices like receipt and label printers. Although not official, the Square stand can hold an iPad Air 2 pretty perfectly. I would suggest placing a small foam dot or so, just so that it is seamless to the stands edges. All in all, this is a great start-up POS system and highly customizable to any operation. I would recommend this product to any small business.

For anyone who has an iPad that isn’t compatible with the Square Stand, I just want to mention that you could use another tablet stand like the Heckler Windfall Stand or the Heckler @Rest Stand! Hope that’s useful! 
This printer is fast and has useable options. I use it with my iPad and Square credit card reader. You can also use it for POS or other systems or configurations. Using it with Square credit card processor I save paper because I only print the customer copy because all the other transaction data is accessed online. And when I tap print on my iPad it starts and completes the printing in just one second. I saw this printer being used at my local drug store with a different setup and it too works well. Give it a try and I think you’ll be glad you did.
Works well, disappointed that you have to press charge to get the reader ready unlike swiping the car. I mainly use it with the dock and some times I will take it off the dock and go mobile with Bluetooth its a very good connection never did it go asleep on me and it has a beefy battery to last the whole day.
I bought this for my office. I’m in private practice for speech language therapy. Some parents want to pay with Apple Pay and everyone else has a chip. The cord is plenty long. I keep the reader in the holder, but I didn’t keep the protective strip at the end. The reader is secure without the strip and with Apple making constant updates, you need to be able to pull the reader out to reset it occasionally. I still have the swiper that attached to my iPhone 7 Plus – I added an adapter to make it work, but this dock is my favorite. Great buy and great for my business.

I am still trying my best to use it. My POS system doesn’t support Star. and now I am having the common problem that I am dealing with Star tech support, they are still working on it to solve the problem, which is it doesn’t print out All Receipts bar-codes on my machine even from their own configuration utility, can’t use Receipt Flip, it doesn’t cut off the receipt automatically, doesn’t print out my full store name in every other receipt, and sometimes the receipt goes out 2 feet long.
The best part about this package is that each one comes with both a regular card swiper and a chip reader square. This is great since so many cards are now going to chip but you still need a swiper for regular cards.
Buying this combo and getting each Square POS piece individually was much cheaper than buying it from Square as part of their whole POS system. Plus, we were able to get our entire Square system in matching white. Cash box plugs into printer with a cable that looks like a phone cable, so it doesn’t require a USB port.

After using this for a day and processing a 20 of payment via phone and bluetooth connection, I think this thing can improve. This thing does work, but it is much slower than using the mag strip reader. Cell signal is very strong via LTE.. therefore, it is not this portion.
