If you are into the Square line of products as a business owner, you have to get this NOW if you don’t have it. I am a banker by trade, and I cannot stress the importance of being able to accept the EMV/chip cards as a business owner. If you think it’s just some gimmick by banks or acquirers and processors to charge you more per swipe, you’re only partly correct. If you haven’t migrated to the ability to accept EMV/chip cards, you are at risk for being liable for fraudulent purchases made with an EMV/chip card if you use EMV/chip ICC fallback methods of swiping the card instead of using the chip. Save yourself the risk of eating chargebacks due to fraudulent charges and put this in your store, yesterday! If you go the Square route of processing cards, be sure to get the dock to accompany this device. My only gripe is that Square didn’t package this together the dock in the first place. Other than that, this device works flawlessly to accept EMV/chip cards and contactless payments.
I’ve only had it up and running for a couple of weeks now, but it prints and cuts the receipts well and have yet to have any problems with it. Drivers disc makes setting up and installing a snap, and it comes with any/all necessary cables. It even comes with a mount for wall mounting, but in looking at it I’m not sure how you would do that or even why someone might want to 🙂
If line is printed, test is good. If no line is printed then there may be a problem with the printer, the drivers or the connection between printer and computer. You should conduct the direct print test to confirm basic functionality
I’ve been using square for our business for about two years now. The mag strip is certainly much more convenient and faster. I understand accepting chip payment is more secure and requires more time for the payment to process.
After one sale they put my account under review and then cancelled my account after a $2000 sale. They stated that “my business was not appropriate” and closed my account. Worst part is they charged my $60 on a $2000 purchase.

The Merchant Keypad stays on your side of the counter, and simply allows you to enter a dollar amount that will show up on the Clover Mini, prompting your customer to pay. This is a great way to allow your customers full access to the Mini if there’s a large counter or separation between the customer and merchant. You can start refunds or sales, and you can also verify signatures on the device’s screen. The Merchant Keypad cannot function as a PIN-entry device.
I have two cafes and these readers are constantly losing functionality constantly. Sometimes they stop connecting to the ipad. Sometimes they stop reading inserted chips. 100% of them break. The ONLY reason we use Square is because they are both the merchant processor and the POS manufacturer. Their hardware is junk and support is non existent. The second I find out about a different processor/POS company I will try them out. I cannot wait for competition in this niche.

The Product itself wasn’t bad at all, the problem I had was with costumer service. I could not get the kitchen printer to work after following all the instructions provided so I called the company and after waiting for about an hour to talk to someone they were no help. They repeated to me exactly what was on the manuals and after I told them that I had already read them they told me that there was nothing else they could do for me. I kept calling and each different person that I talked to pretty much told me the same thing. To this day I have not been able to get the kitchen printer to work and no one from this company has been able to help me fix this problem.
