I just received my stand last night and I have to say out of the box, SUPER easy to use. It comes with 2 different types of mounts, the usb hub to plug in external things like receipt printers and cash drawers and even a barcode scanner. A lot of reviews said the Air 2 didn’t fit properly, but mine fit perfectly and they even include a special screw to hold it in the stand. I tested it and even picked it up an jiggled it. The ipad stayed in place. I will definitely be adding a receipt printer and cash drawer for my craft shows. Anyone on the fence should definitely give this a try!

POOR product, I received it and installed it per manufacturers specs and a light lit up and then died. Could never get it to work again. Returned it for a refund but still had a problem of trying to get wifi to my receipt printer. Ended up using a wifi extender that worked really well with this.

If line is printed, test is good. If no line is printed then there may be a problem with the printer, the drivers or the connection between printer and computer. You should conduct the direct print test to confirm basic functionality

If you plan to get a printer with your system, then stick with lower cost serial (not usb) based cash drawer and tie it into the printer instead, which also frees up one of the precious and limited usb ports on a square stand. This is important when you need a chip/nfc reader, printer, drawer, and scanner.

I own a restaurant and a beauty salon, Square (one flat fee of 2.75%) had solved a lot of problems for me. No more paper rolls or running out of paper during a transaction, no more chasing down a pen for customers to sign the receipt, no more worrying about missing a tip or doing batching/settlement at the end of day, and no more keeping rolls of receipts for potential customer dispute/charge back (by the way the ink on receipt fades after a week anyway, you won’t be able to read anything after that so keeping receipts is completely useless). Prior to Square I used Central Payment, they charged an all in fee around 2.78% (including statement fee, PCI compliant fee, anti fraud fee, and a host of other funny fees…). Then I switched to Elavon, which is promoted by Costco, the rate was pretty much the same around 2.75% for everything. So frustrated, I decided to do my own research instead of trying something new every time a credit card rep stops by my place to pitch “a lower/better rate”.

How is it aquare advertises that they are the best? My first experience with square is turning into a nughtmare.. before i registered i was geeting all these great emails how great the ap[ps are customer service money availabilities,, and get emails every 30 minues but once i go thru the process to register, add my information and try tio read the small terms and Conditions which seem to go on and on,, and then when im putting in my charges the system doesnt give any flags or markers stopong the user by notifying verification is required before moving forward,, it just lets you enter evrything, then the next morning io get an email saying a rep has been trying to contact you to verify your account so that your money isnt held up.. and the then you go back to your dash board and then you ask for contract, orders, and so fourth. yet you dont provide any disclaimers on the program screen.. then you try to down load docs and ask more questions then you need to know.. and then.. it becomes difficult get help. Then you go to help. and your made to fill out send an email,, then you send response saying Thank you in Bold Black letters?? is that some type of red flag, for us poor smucks who just gave you our hard work money?? because after that.. you send emails.. asking for assitance . and then you send blank emails.. with subjet line thank you.. and then.. nothing happens??
These kitchen printers are impact printers that use ribbon (SPE-7060). The only versions that works with Clover are the ethernet model and wifi model. For most setups ethernet is recommended over wifi as it is more reliable, easier to setup, and more cost effective. Using an ethernet interface allows the printer to be placed anywhere in your restaurant/cafeteria/deli/business as long as the ethernet connection is on the same network as the clover station. The way that it is configured on the station is that in the app settings the app will look for a Star Micronics SP700 printer when it finds one on the network you can select it and it will print all kitchen orders to that printer. The clover station has no way of knowing that a USB/Parallel/Serial printer is available, it has to be ethernet.
One more critical thing, Square can handle transactions without Internet for up to 72 hrs, after that simply connect it to any Wifi and it will sync & batch all deposits automatically. It is simply not the case with all other terminals if your Internet is sporadic or unstable or lack bandwidth. VRX & Elavon m/c will reject the transaction in the middle of transaction and ask you to reset and cycle thru their initial power up programming, a major headache when there’s a line of impatient customers in front of you trying to pay and get back to work!
Clear paper jams. Be careful during this operation. Refer to the manual for special instructions and always power down your printer and unplug it first. Use tweezers and be gentle-don’t use force. Clear out even the tiniest bits of paper you find.

On the negative side, Square offers only limited live customer support to merchants. Active Square users can contact Square by phone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST, but they will first need to obtain their customer code (see: How to Contact Square). Deactivated users cannot obtain a customer code. This means that their fund holds and other account issues may go unresolved for very long periods of time, leaving deactivated merchants without a solution of any kind during operating hours. This is the most consistent issue cited by Square merchants who have filed public complaints. For merchants lucky enough to avoid fund holds or service issues, Square is a great option. For those who encounter problems, there is hardly ever a swift and effective resolution.
