“Square One Credit Card Processing for Small Businesses”
So Laurel and everyone out there. After three weeks without word one from square, I got this. Checks bounced, no chargebacks had been made, NOTHING. I was able to refund all the money to my clients and checks are on their way to me now.
If Square does have an Achilles heel, it is a less than perfect track record in terms of customer service. This is because it accepts most new merchants and then puts accounts that it considers to be high-risk on hold. For example; direct marketing services, travel agency services and inbound or outbound telemarketers.
Amazing how they found “a pattern of transactions associated with high-risk activity” when we had just run our very first credit card charge, and the product had been delivered BEFORE the was charged.
Square does collect a lot of data, and you can do a lot with it. I know that you can leave notes on quick sale transaction, and you can sort through sales data on a per-transaction level. But honestly? You’ll have a much easier time sorting through the data and putting together the reports if you start taking advantage of the inventory tools. Pulling the reports will be just a matter of a few clicks.
Thank you for posting this. I have a brick and mortar store and am thinking about setting up Square Marketplace and embedding it onto my current website. Could you send an example of the website you used Square Marketplace on? It would be nice to see what you did.
The combination NFC/EMV reader is approximately 2.5″ x 2.5″ square, and can be charged and then connected wirelessly, or plugged in to the Square Stand using a USB hub. The NFC/EMV combo reader also comes with a traditional magnetic stripe reader to allow you to accept older magnetic stripe credit cards.
STAY AWAY FROM SQUARE! I was using Square for over a year and now today they send me a email stating they have to close my account. Got my money and are going to hold it for 90 days till they release it. I didn’t make the Customer wait 90 days for him to get his truck fixed.
I got a square account a few years back, have not used it till December of 2016. I was not aware that I was not allowed to swipe gift cards and so I did. My account was closed but for the past 3 months I have been trying to get my money back that square held in my account when closing it, they will not return my emails or calls. So they just decide to keep my money????? I will never use them again
They help ALL of our deposits. They flag an entire account, not just a certain transaction. This is detrimental to small companies that accept credit cards as a form of payment for their services. It’s illegal. They are trying to get around it with saying the terms and conditions that you accepts when you initially signed up for the account would protect them. But it is very broken…. This will come back around and bite them.
Same thing here, I made a large “Swiped” transaction, money held, sent everything they needed and no response….NOTHING other than an automated message. Does anyone know of a way to cancel the transaction safely so I can go another route with the Customer? I cant even get them to respond!
So I requested Square refund MY money to the customer. Even though I already painted her house so somewhere between here and 4 months she may get it back. Then she may pay me in another method after that. But she will never use me again and she will never recommend me to anyone else. This is just so damaging to my business. Before I got this lovely response from them they had me fill out a lot of useless information, from invoices to ads I placed. I gave them copies of my ID and bank statements and just basically sitting somewhere on this company’s computer is my entire life story. I sent them so much information. My question is this… Why would I have to split transactions if there is no limit to swiped tranactions? And why don’t they have a number for customer support? It’s like pulling teeth trying to get a response through email from them because they aren’t in any hurry at all!! Save yourself the stress, headache, business loss and anxiety!!! DON’T USE SQUARE!! This company is RIPPING EVERYONE OFF!!! Please read the reviews Google Square and look at what people are saying. I wish I would have.
My Ex and I were needing a quick and painless way to settle up on a vehicle that we had purchased. After reading about the Squareup.com product we thought that It would be worth checking out because we needed to use a credit card to make the transaction between us.
As much as merchants mentioned in this article have touted Square’s capabilities to help their businesses, it’s not going to be the same experience for everyone for various reasons, whether it’s support or just overall guidance. This is to be expected — you’re not going to have a 100 percent satisfaction rate and definitely not have a system that’s 100 percent what you’re looking for.
Since YOU REFUSED the full payment from the customer, I requested it to be refunded. YOU REFUSED to refund the payment. INSTEAD you REFUNDED ANOTHER CUSTOMER in the amount of $1100. What on earth??? You EVENTUALLY sent us $564.
Square is FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!If you are a seller that sells products, you are being warned. If a customer file a dispute for whatever reason. Square will automatically debit your bank account and refund the customer. Square doesn’t even request the customer, to return the product back to the seller, nor do they have any type of return process in place. I have sent endless emails asking about how they handle refunds / returns / proof of returns, and never get an answer. So in all, the customer can keep the product and get their money back, with no questions asked. Square says they offer seller protection, but that’s a joke. Square sells they will challenge your dispute to the customer, but if they can’t even pick up a phone, or return a simple email, what makes you think, they will actually go out of their way to challenge the dispute vs the customer for you? It’s a joke! Square committed FRAUD 3x vs me. Customer kept the product, and got their money back. I lost $1100There is a new app called e-mobile-pay. 25 cents per transaction fee, and 100% guaranteed, no chargebacks! This is what they say. NO i don’t work this company. Has anyone tried e-mobile-pay? 25 cents and 100% guaranteed no chargebacks is very very very tempting. I don’t see any reviews regarding this company. I seen reviews in the google store, but i think that’s coming from their investors
I have been using square since April, 2013. No problems at all, some transactions are $600.00, $400.00 and over $20,000.00 a month. I have been happy with square and so are my customers. I did write to them to let them know that my sales will be higher in August and September.
