The last printer lasted us around 1.5 years and the power broke but i think it broke because it was dropped. Cant complain wish it was color but it does the job and thats what i needed. If you looking for portable and good printer this is.
So in the scheme of “would we buy these printers?” it comes down to would we buy these instead of other Epson printers? I would probably recommend the T20II the most out of all the printers, I think for the price and features and warranty, the T20II is your best bet. If you are worried about space though, take a look at the M series, especially the M10, it’s very very small compared to older receipt printers. The styling on both of these are better than the T20II. If you’re looking for just pure performance, pure reliability, pure speed, the T88V is still your best bet. So that’s kind of the Epson overview of all their printers. Good printers, probably at this time not their best printers, but they are space saving options, and there are some unique pairing capabilities, so if you’re on a tablet or something like that and you don’t have a USB port, then take a look and see if a proper interface is available for you. I have worked with Epson thermal and impact printers in bar and restaurant settings quite a bit over the last 7 years and they are generally pretty reliable so this early of a failure is rare. The TM-T20II is a relatively new model and certain things were done to make it more affordable but I believe they are using the same serial interface card (S01) that the TM-T88V models use.

This unit worked very well out of the box. Yes, it would have been nice to find instructions, or even a url for where to find the manual, but some kind souls have posted about that in the q&a, so no biggie. But yesterday I plugged it in to charge, after. It using it for a couple of weeks, and no joy. The unit shows no sign of life at. I have removed the battery, checked and wiped the connections, etc etc. The return window closed 26 days ago so looks like I’m screwed 🙁 I’m dismayed to have spent $295 (including taxes) for a paperweight, and not sure what to do next. 😩
I work as the PC tech at a ski resort with a restaurant upstairs. We recently updated all of our systems, and I replaced the kitchen printer. Since we had all Star receipt printers (work great), I figured I would get the Star kitchen printer over the Epson. The set up was very easy and painless, but the problems we had afterwards were intolerable. The printer would frequently disconnect from our network, making it so sometimes the hostess would place an order, and nothing would print back to the kitchen. As you can imagine, this resulted in food not being prepared when it should have, angry customers, and stressed out employees.

The only troubleshooting I had to do after, occurred after a Windows update. The port the 2nd starmicronics entry in Printers and Devices had changed port numbers. I just repeated step 6 and then made the 2nd starmicronics entry in printers and devices match that of the entry that is auto installed when you pair the printer the first time and I was golden. I’ve rebooted numerous times since then and it has retained the port.

If you own a food-truck, this is perfect for you. It’s been a life saver! No more need for buying ticket books and writing down orders. When you pair this with Square, it’s a match made in heaven. Features on the ready print: you have your LED lights to tell you if there’s error or when you’re out of paper when the cover is open, etc. Drop in loading- just take your thermal receipt paper, drop it in, close it, and good to go. On/off switch is on the front and as we come around to the back, you can see the ports. On all versions of the ready print, there’s going to be a USB connection. This is the power plug adapter to the PS-180 Power supply, that’s a change from the previous model which had the power supply built in. Now it’s a separate power brick, it makes the unit a little smaller, it also allows you to replace one unit. Should the power supply fail, you can buy a new power supply where before if the power supply failed, then you’d have to replace the unit. Here’s your serial connection, they went back to using a 25 pin serial connection where it was a 9 pin serial connection on the previous model. Most setups are not going to use the serial printer, you’re only going to need the USB so buy the serial version but it doesn’t matter, you’re just not going to use the serial port. Your cash drawer port is located on the top and that’s how you’re going to connect your cash drawer. On other models it was down below and now, it’s up top here. Additionally there is a wall mount bracket for the printer, it screws on and you can mount on the back and that’s how you would attach it on the wall. You can also see those little cut outs here where you can put the additional set of rubber feet then if you wanted to mount it vertically, you’d have the paper feed out of it like so. You can do that as well, just two different mounting options for this printer.
i can’t believe this printer costs ~$150! i would expect something that works this well to cost at least twice as much (as many other options do). i can’t recommend this thermal printer highly enough!
