The new TSP143III thermal receipt printers have a lot to offer mPOS businesses and point of sales systems. The new model prints faster at 43 receipts per minute and is by far easier to setup. At the time of writing, the TSP100III receipt printer is probably the best POS printing solution in the market. And Star can backup that claim with its easy to use and ready to go installation.

More broadly, what do you want to print from? Most dedicated photo printers can print from a computer over a USB connection, but they’re really meant as standalone devices. Most newer models come with Wi-Fi connectivity. Most print directly from PictBridge cameras and memory cards. (Make sure the printer is compatible with the memory card format you want to use.) Nearly as many models can print from USB thumb drives. A few print from internal memory, but you need to transfer the files to the memory first, so find out what connection you need to use to transfer the photos. Finally, some can connect by Bluetooth to print from smartphones and other Bluetooth devices.

Essentially, I am now permanently banned from using Square’s products because THEIR SYSTEM encountered an error. I have never hated a company more than this. Go to Paypal Here, they have excellent customer service and will work with you to make your system work.
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

To get the cost per photo for a dedicated photo printer, simply divide the cost of the print pack by the number of photos it will print. To get the total cost of ownership, multiply the cost per photo by the number of photos you expect to print over the printer’s lifetime, and then add the printer’s initial cost. This total is the best basis for comparing prices.

I bought his to use with my ipad and square point of sale system when I occasionally do craft shows. So far so good. I wish it automatically connected with Square when I open the app but I have to connect under setting- my only complaint. Other than that it performs nicely, is very light and compact and reliably prints a decent easy to read receipt.
I have e-mailed support twice since last Wednesday (rec’d no response to either message) and spent over an hour on the phone with support yesterday and nothing was resolved.   Next step is to stop using Square altogether, as we are a busy bar and asking customers to sign the iPad during peak service does not work in a busy setting.  We were about to start switching over the ten other businesses we own to Square, but obviously are no longer considering that. In short, Square sucks.
