A barcode scanner helps you speed up checkout lines and manage your inventory with ease. The Clover Mobile has a built-in scanner, so you don’t need to purchase a scanner if you use Mobile. Virtually any 1D or 2D barcode can be captured — including the typical barcodes that are printed on paper labels; electronic barcodes displayed on the screen of a mobile phone, tablet or computer that allows retailers to easily process loyalty cards, mobile coupons and more; and the high density (HD) barcodes commonly used in specialty retail and electronic component manufacturing. An optional stand enables automatic switching between handheld and hands-free modes. The Clover-customized version enables easy plug-and-play setup.

I know there is a need to conserve battery.. but there should also be a mode where it is always connected and ready to use. It seems like to me at times, it needs to ‘think” for a while before any light flashes..
In the restaurant POS by Clock Software orders are sent to the kitchen automatically. Depending on your preferences and network infrastructure, you can use kitchen printers or kitchen monitors. Either way, the orders are sent directly to the kitchen where they are prepared, together with any special instructions so good communication and efficiency are ensured.
After one sale they put my account under review and then cancelled my account after a $2000 sale. They stated that “my business was not appropriate” and closed my account. Worst part is they charged my $60 on a $2000 purchase.
Square register is one of the best things I have found in my thirty years of business. We travel and sell remotely. Square is fast, accurate, and the reports available are incredible. Started with 4 register and now have 84 and still buying. Highest recommendation.
KaBOOOM. I would not recommend Square to anyone at this point. As of right now Square made my account jacked up my account in fees that I did not tell them to Bill to this account. They do not have managers or supervision in place to assist you over the phone when admin is needed. The Phone reps are unable to assist this type of transactions and no one called me back or resolved my issue. This issue is 100% the fault of SQUARE DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM THATS MY EXPERIENCE!
You have to have an ethernet printer and a Star Micronics SP742 Ethernet printer and a hub. A USB printer will not work for a kitchen printer. There is a different USB customer receipt printer that plugs directly into Stand
I have two cafes and these readers are constantly losing functionality constantly. Sometimes they stop connecting to the ipad. Sometimes they stop reading inserted chips. 100% of them break. The ONLY reason we use Square is because they are both the merchant processor and the POS manufacturer. Their hardware is junk and support is non existent. The second I find out about a different processor/POS company I will try them out. I cannot wait for competition in this niche.
No more running orders to the kitchen or calling out orders to the barista. With just a tap of the finger and your handy iPad POS system, your orders can magically hop from the front of the house to a kitchen printer. Sounds great, right? Well that is until you realize that you don’t know what the heck a kitchen printer is and/or how to get one set up at your business.

This has been a great solution for our clients with chip cards. Make sure that you don’t throw away the small white piece that is attached to the top of the reader. I threw it away accidentally and it made it confusing on where to dip the card.

I got the AGP model they sell here on Amazon for about $10 more a few years back for my first Square Stand setup. I saw this was the drawer that Square now recommends on their site, and the price on Amazon was even better than the first drawer I bought, so I figured what the heck, I’ll just get this one. The drawer seems to be built well, HOWEVER the inside of the drawer, which they don’t show you a picture of in the description is ridiculous. It has 8 slots for coins, so that means each slot is half the size of a normal coin slot. It makes absolutely no sense who in their right mind would design that. I’ve been in business for 20 years and have had many cash registers and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything so crazy. Also the clamps that hold the bills in place are made of metal, which you’d think would be better since they’d be more sturdy than all the plastic clamps you’ve used in registers for the last 30 years, but the design of them is strange and makes it a pain to pull them up. I wouldn’t recommend this drawer if you’ve ever used another cash register before in your lifetime because it will just annoy you.

I bought the square stand, for my old iPad, but have since had to buy a new iPad. Although, it does not fit the stand it still works in the stand. I have wedged a piece of paper, (until I remember to go buy putty) under the bottom left corner, which keeps it in place. Not perfect, but it works. I tried to include a photo but it doesn’t seem to be an option. If anyone would like me to send a photo of what that looks like just email me.
The link to the printer posted previously is correct, assuming you are running your Square system on a LAN (local area network) and will be using an Ethernet printer. If you are using a Square Stand, then you will need a USB cable and a really long USB cable. I’ve purchased the printer for less with knowledgeable help here.
I’ve installed dozens of these square POS systems. They work fine on their own, just be sure to get the proper size/version to match your ipad, the connectors differ. To expand the system you pair it with a printer, cash drawer, scanner, and chip reader.
Once the printer is set as default, click Start / Run and type notepad and press enter. In notepad, type a test message and click File and Print. If the printer also prints successfully from this program but you are still unable to print from the other program, it is likely that that program has an issue and not your printer.

@dabiekr1 – The iPad Air 2 has a slimmer form factor, so it’s not an exact fit for the Square Stand (which is very important). This also means that the headphone jack won’t line up exactly when using the security screw. You could also run into connection issues, which is something that could definitely be an annoyance during the business day.

Absolute junk. Don’t waste your time. Even with static IP addresses across the network this device would still cause conflicts. It worked all of two times, and the second time it worked the router had to be power cycled in order for that miracle to occur. Disconnected it, put it away for a year, now I can’t even connect to the device to reconfigure it. Useless. Why they didn’t just use a simple wireless LAN adapter like the Netgear WNCE2001 is beyond me.

High-speed throughput – Kitchen backups can quickly snowball into extra waiting, so trim seconds off meal prep times whenever possible. A restaurant kitchen printer should have a high-speed throughput of 13 receipts per minute, which increases staff productivity and efficiency in the kitchen. The printer’s clear, easy-to-read tickets means your staff doesn’t have to play guessing games with the orders –they can print tickets quickly, assemble the dishes faster and ensure every selection comes out correctly the first time. Faster service means more throughput, higher profit margins and bigger tips for your wait staff.

If line is printed, test is good. If no line is printed then there may be a problem with the printer, the drivers or the connection between printer and computer. You should conduct the direct print test to confirm basic functionality
I am still trying my best to use it. My POS system doesn’t support Star. and now I am having the common problem that I am dealing with Star tech support, they are still working on it to solve the problem, which is it doesn’t print out All Receipts bar-codes on my machine even from their own configuration utility, can’t use Receipt Flip, it doesn’t cut off the receipt automatically, doesn’t print out my full store name in every other receipt, and sometimes the receipt goes out 2 feet long.
