Use the specially designed Vertical Stand when utilizing the TSP100 in a vertical orientation. The Vertical Stand provides a clean surface facing the customer, which also creates room for advertising.
The price is right but the result is even better! they are reliable and they get the job done. I was going to buy some other ones in the $400 price tag, I think these work just as well, if not better. I love them!
Atm it’s cheaper for me to use something else other than square, than to change the printer tablet setup. It appears other people have similar issues. Square managment need to grasp the economics here of only catering to a small hardware segment(Star printers) of the market, while marketing themselves as a simple DIY eftpos POS for small businesses, who burn themselves on compatability issues. Hopefully Square can solve this issue.
I just purchased a Square Stand yesterday and am new to this, but am having a similar issue. My Stand (for ipad Air) will charge my ipad and the ipad recognizes the stand, but the Register app won’t recognize that the stand is connected and it won’t read cards. Trying to decide whether to return it immediately. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?
Have not purchased this printer, but wanted to let people know that this is not the only printer that will work with Square. I have two Star Micronics printers, one Ethernet and one Bluetooth and both work fine with the Square app for iPad. I also have Ethernet based cash drawers that connect through the printers and those works just as well. This probably has the easiest set up, but it is not the only way.
The convenience of having a receipt printer that can clip onto a belt and connect through bluetooth is what sold me on this printer and is why I have continued to use it outside every day for well over a year now. We use it outside on a daily basis with it sometimes printing anywhere from 100-200 receipts an hour. I’ve had no issues with it overheating in the sun or any major IT issues. However, I do wish Espon would make the following improvements:

USB receipt printers can be used to print customer receipts, order tickets and order ticket stubs. USB printers connect to Android devices via a USB OTG (On-The-Go) adaptor. Make sure your device supports USB OTG or USB Host mode.
The Canon Selphy CP1200 can print up to a maximum size of 4 x 6″. But that is just one of the sizes you can print. You can print label sizes, squares and small stickers 8 at a time. So, this is not your typical home/home office printer. But if you love printing photos from time to time you would love this printer.
Because scanners interface differently with Square for Android than they do with Square for iOS (they primarily work by searching, and they can only search by product name or numeric SKU), nearly any USB scanner should work with Square. We successfully tested USB interface Zebra, Honeywell, POS-X and Datalogic scanners, and even older scanners were able to scan and search in Square.
Near-dedicated photo printers, at least the ones at the consumer level, are aimed at serious amateur photographers. They offer professional-level output quality, can typically print at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches, and often demand a reasonable level of sophistication to get the best results.
The Epson XP-640 is a pretty powerful iPhone printer that can also be used as a scanner and copier. As such, it’s quite multipurpose, but as such it’s not very portable. It’s a stationary printer. You can get pictures in 4″ x 6” dimensions and borderless photos of 8″ x 10” dimensions. Furthermore, you can also get double sided prints to save paper and time, and it has a fast output time of just 20 seconds.
This printer comes with a disk. If you are using it with an Ipad, the disk is useless. The only thing I am disappointed with at this point is that I can not print by business logo on my receipts. This is not a downfall of the printer but the program that I am using. This printer prints the business logo ‘”IF” you are using a Mac or Windows based POS system.
2.1.2 Charging the Battery Insert the battery pack into the printer to charge it. Insert the battery charger cable into the printer’s power inlet for charging. Lamp(Red) Lamp(Green) Charging Fully charged Note: When the battery charger is connected to the printer without the battery pack, the printer turns on but cannot print.

There are 3 major functions – auto play slideshow, loop play video show, web page mode (convert your web site into an App-like application). You can also use it as a Tablet POS(Point Of Sale) Kit. The…
With the rise of iPad-based point of sale systems, having a receipt printer that easily interfaces with the iPad and integrates with the POS app is crucial for a complete system. Whether you need a fixed printer or a completely mobile solution we have a printer to meet the needs of any environment.
@SSmobile @Kevin7 – I went ahead and moved both of your comments over to the thread where we are tracking this feature request. I totally understand your frustration and desire for Epson support. They make a mean printer that is also a fraction of the cost of most Star printers. I have personally passed this feedback along to our product team, and expanding compatibility is something that is top of mind for them. I’ll update this thread if/when this functionality is added in the future!
To check what network your iPads are on, tap “Settings” on the iPad then tap “Wi-Fi” on the screen that loads. The name of the network should be the same network that your printers are connected to; if this is not the case then connect the iPad to the appropriate network and attempt printing again.
Operating Environment for the Printer Before actually unpacking the printer, you should take a few minutes to think about where you plan to use it. Remember the following points when doing this. P Do not use the printer in an environment in which it will be subject to strong shaking while it is printing.
Installed last night and works perfectly with my Apple IOS POS system. One thing that is great is it comes with the software to change the printer IP address. When you have several POS printers this make life easier. Works with NEC, STAR and Espon drivers
Square REALLY needs to make a way to save a completed invoice as .pdf, .doc, etc. I use my mobile device for everything and sometimes I need to send a customer an invoice via email as a .pdf attachment. Currently the only way I can do this is to login to my square account via computer/laptop that gives the ability to “print to file” and save it as a .pdf but it’s very annoying when a computer is not available when you’re on the road.
Square can be used with Android smartphones and tablets in the form of the Square magnetic stripe card reader. It works in tandem with the Square Point of Sale app, which is available for free in the Google Play store. The Square Stand is not an option for Android devices, it is only available for iPad.
The best part about this package is that each one comes with both a regular card swiper and a chip reader square. This is great since so many cards are now going to chip but you still need a swiper for regular cards.
Pros: We wanted to offer a printed receipt option when working conventions. Using the hotels network to run Square is great, but a blue tooth printer is a must to allow our iPad to print directly. Once I had the set up done, it seemed to print well and at a good speed. No real issues getting the device to be recognized. easy to set up in Square register. Overall, it functioned the way we needed it to, though most people were happy to email their receipt, or skip it all together. The ones that wanted a receipt were thrilled to have the option.
Cons: First, the paper rolls are tiny. They will need to be ordered, as I was unable to find an office store that carries the right size. Standard rolls are too big around to fit. The default pin is also a problem. It can only be reset using a utility that does not come with the machine. I had to email the manufacture to get it. The second part of the problem is that the machine must be hooked up to a window computer to run utility, and this is done using and old style serial port which is outdated and not readily available on most new computers. Luckily I was able to find an old machine still running XP with a serial port. If you have outdated tech around, the pin is pretty easy to change with the utility. If you have a Mac, or a newer computer, you’ll have to be OK with running the default pin and hope no one messes with the machine. At a big show with lots of geeks and tons of smart devices, who knows who might connect and play with the printer. The battery also seemed to run down much faster than my iPad, even though it was rarely used. Just having it on all day will drain the battery, so if you plan on printing a lot, be sure you have a power outlet handy to keep it charged during slow periods. Also was very pricey for what it was. I paid less for my full sized laser printer, and could almost get another iPad with what it cost.
Troubleshooting resolves the most common issues (Square Stand USB Attachment Issues) however if these tips don’t help, we recommend replacing the entire unit with a Square Stand Warranty Claim rather than purchasing a single USB Hub. When you place a warranty claim, we’ll send you out a brand new replacement Square Stand with new USB Hubs.
